Michael Coop founded Coop Consulting, Inc. in 2002. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of the South, and his Masters in Education from Columbia’s Teachers College. He spent nine years as a financial aid officer at Columbia University, Barnard College, and Manhattan School of Music, followed by six years as Manhattan School of Music’s Director of Development, moving to New Mexico in 1993. In Santa Fe, Michael joined Shaening and Associates, Inc., a small consulting firm providing services to state agencies and non-profits in the human services arena, where he spent nine years. Since forming Coop Consulting, Inc., Michael has led the firm in major initiatives including:

  • Substance abuse prevention program and system development, including as a major participant in the development and piloting of the Strategic Prevention Framework model
  • Youth resiliency, including the statewide implementation of the PAX Good Behavior Game, and the development of a statewide youth mentoring coalition
  • Behavioral health early intervention, crisis response, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction, including overdose prevention
  • Early childhood services and system development, and evaluation – with emphasis on community engagement and coalition development, quality improvement and appreciative inquiry as a system improvement modality
  • Children’s behavioral health services
  • Aging and long-term services program and system evaluation
  • Law enforcement illicit drug trafficking enforcement reporting and evaluation.
